Is Joe Biden trying to start World War Three with Putin?

Is Joe Biden trying to start World War 3 with Russia by calling Putin a KILLER, and touring Europe telling the people there that he dislikes Putin?  Let me explain that the U.S. Government makes billions upon billions of dollars every year for decades on end by selling and exporting U.S. military weapons to the world's countries.  Our main competitor for arms sales during the Cold War post World War 2 was the Soviet Union or Moscow, Russia.  When the Soviet Union dissolved in the early 1990s and the Russian economy collapsed and they lost their global market share in arms sales.  During that decade, the U.S. Government took Russia's market share in arms sales, and our economy and Wall Street boomed during the Bill Clinton administration in the 1990s.

Putin took over Russia's government for about 2 decades now (since May 7th, 2000) and will probably be in charge for around another 15 years in the future where he uses his autocratic power in Moscow, Russia to rebuild Russia's military and exports of arms to the world.  The humanitarian crisis in Yemen and the political conflicts in the Middle East region has not stopped the U.S. Government from selling arms to oil rich countries there.  In fact, then President Trump said that if the U.S. Government did not sell arms to Saudi Arabia to stop the proxy war in Yemen, then Saudi Arabia would just turn around and buy the arms from Putin.

The U.S. Government's number one non-farm export is arms sales to the world.  The U.S. Government has built a military industrial complex in all 50 states since the end of World War 2 in 1945, and the U.S. Government has fought military conflicts for decades on end and most likely for decades into the future.  The U.S. Government's military industrial complex's arms sales exports is being challenged again by Russian President Putin.  Joe Biden calls Putin a KILLER and tells the people of Europe that he dislikes Putin before Biden and Putin will meet next week on June 16th, 2021 in Geneva, Switzerland.  The U.S. Government's continuous military conflicts and arms sales have resulted in the deaths of millions upon millions of foreign people since the end of World War 2, as well as contributed to humanitarian crises such as the one in Yemen.  Joe Biden should look at himself in the proverbial mirror when he calls Putin a KILLER and tells the people of Europe that he dislikes Putin.  I don't know for sure, but I would guess that the U.S. Government's military industrial complex or war machine has killed millions of more foreign people since the end of World War 2 than the Soviet Union and now Russia's military industrial complex or war machine.

In mid-March of 2003, President George W. Bush invaded Iraq against international laws, which Joe Biden voted for in the U.S. Senate.  Iraq has the second largest oil reserves second only to Saudi Arabia.  Bush came from a Yale University Skulls and Bones wealthy political family with a long history in the Texas oil business.  Eleven years later, in March of 2014, Putin invaded Ukraine and took possession of Crimea against international laws.  How is the U.S. Government right to illegally take over or control Iraq's second largest oil reserve fields in the world, while the Russian Government is wrong to illegally take over or annex Crimea from Ukraine?  Just because the U.S. Government is a democracy under Joe Biden, while the Russian Government is an authoritarian dictatorship under Putin does not make the U.S. Government right and the Russian Government wrong when it comes to violating international laws.

In closing, both Soviet Union/Russian and the U.S. Governments fought together against Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany's military industrial complex or war machine in Europe - and for good reason, of course.  But after Hitler was defeated, the Soviet Union/Russian and U.S. Governments went onto build their own respective war machines with tragic results for millions upon millions of foreign people who were killed by the the Soviet Union/Russian and U.S. Governments' respective military conflicts - or at various times proxy wars because neither country wanted to see the world nuked if Moscow and Washington, D.C. fought each other in direct military conflict during the decades-long Cold War.  Now, in 2021, we have Joe Biden calling Russian President Putin a KILLER and telling the people in Europe that he dislikes Putin.  What is Joe Biden's end game next week on his June 16th, 2021 meeting with Putin?  I ask once again, is Joe Biden trying to start the Third World War with Putin?

The news this morning [June 10th, 2021] about U.S. inflation is that core inflation had its biggest increase since 1992, and overall inflation had its biggest increase since 2008.  Inflation is worse than any tax on American consumers.  The average American saver is losing their money to rising inflation unless they are willing to risk it in the roller coaster stock market, which is predicted to tank over the next year or two.  We are in a K-shaped recovery/recession where only the corporate and ruling elites are on top, while everyone else is losing ground.  If the economy tanks soon, then things will only get worse for the working class.

What did you think about yesterday's vote on Beacon Hill to advance the Millionaires surtax that will kill small business in Massachusetts?  How did the Berkshire delegation - Chrome Dome: Adam Hinds, Trippy Country Buffet: Tricia Farley Bouvier, Paul Marx: Paul Mark, the Mayor: John Barrett III, and Smitty Pignatelli - vote on the Millionaires tax yesterday?  I assume they all voted for it, but I don't know for sure.  When Beacon Hill lawmakers vote to raise state government taxes, I believe that they should first vote to cut their own public pay and perks by at least 50 percent to lead by example.  What a double standard that Beacon Hill lawmakers vote themselves huge legislative pay raises and accept up to 3 legislative pay raises every two years, while they also vote to increase state taxes on everyone else.

Lastly, I agree with you that there are people telling Joe Biden what to say during his week-long tour of Europe.  I wonder how his meeting with Putin will go next Thursday, June 16th, 2021?  Also, I always wondered why the U.S. Government criticizes foreign leaders such as Putin, while they are friendly with similar foreign leaders when it is in our national and economic interests?  Again, it is always a double standard!

Hello Patrick Fennell,

Did you know that I agree with a lot of what you write about in politics from mostly rural Berkshire County, Massachusetts to under the shiny Golden Dome that sits atop the Beacon Hill Statehouse in Boston, to the Swamp's Capitol Hill (or K Street Extension) and the Oval Office in the White House?  Your writings are inspiring to me, despite the fact that we have different political views.

I listen to all sides when it comes to politics.  I do not believe just because a politician is on my side that he or she is doing the right thing(s) for the people they are supposed to be representing.  I believe the U.S. economy is heading towards the proverbial iceberg or cliff (Nilan) of inflation, big government, economic inequality, record debts, and so on.  If the K-shaped recovery/recession is bad news right now for the bottom 98 percent of the U.S. population in 2021, then just wait until the Stock Market tanks later this year or next year in 2022.

The government and its ruling elites or career politicians are supposed to be investing in the people they are representing to give the working class families an economic and financial incentive to live a middle class lifestyle.  Obviously, this is no longer happening from Great Barrington or Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to Boston, to the Swamp, and nearly everywhere else in the U.S.A.  We live in the era of class warfare (or structural conflict and violence - poverty, jobless, homeless, pollution, political corruption, etc.) where most of the economic and financial gains go to the very top one to two percent of the U.S. population's wealthiest people and the corrupt career politicians, while nearly everyone else is falling behind.  This is NOT the American Way or American Dream, but rather, it is what happened in Germany prior to Hitler's rise to power around one hundred years ago.

Wednesday's, June 9th, 2021, vote by Beacon Hill lawmakers to advance the Millionaires surtax happened without them holding public hearings and relying on public policy studies explaining the net benefit of raising state taxes on Massachusetts nearly 20,000 millionaires?  Beacon Hill lawmakers keep saying it will bring in between $1 billion to $2 billion in new state revenue per fiscal year, but they are not accounting for the costs to small businesses, investments, and the like.  The net state revenue benefit may end up being zero or even in the negative!  Also, when politicians vote to raise taxes on the people they are supposed to be representing, they should lead by example and cut their own public pay and perks by at least 50 percent.

On Donald Trump and most of the Republican Party's BIG LIE about the stolen 2020 presidential election, why didn't they prove their case in a court of law by now?  If Trump and the Republican Party leadership had a case, then I believe that they would have litigated it by now.  I believe that the swing states Trump lost to Biden were due to the minority populated cities in Atlanta Georgia, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Detroit Michigan, and Milwaukee Wisconsin.  Trump spent over 4 years disparaging minorities, and as a result, the minority voters in the aforementioned swing state cities voted for Biden over Trump.  That is the real reason why Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Biden.

I do not believe that career politicians care about anything but staying in elected office for life.  When politicians retire from elected office, they collect their taxpayer-funded pensions and perks, and then they become registered lobbyists where they make 6-figure salaries or sometimes even higher selling out the very taxpayers they used to represent.  When a little guy like you or me writes to our ruling elites, we either get cookie cutter form letter responses or no responses at all.

The fact is that the only winners in our K-shaped U.S. economy are the corporate and ruling elites.  That means that little guys like you and I are all losers in the proverbial game of big government and big business.  We are being sold out by big government and big business no matter if Donald Trump or Joe Biden is in the Oval Office, and all we can do about it is pound sand - or nothing at all but us being manipulated by the powerful for us little guys to be divided so they can continue to conquer and control all of us with their hot air.

In closing, I hope you see that you and I are on the same side, despite us being divided by the powerful for their own collective gain and our collective loss.  I am a student of history, and it has always been divide and conquer so the powerful can control us, while we pay for their many excesses and means to run the system for their own gain and our loss.  The people always fall for it century after century as far back as their have been Oligarchs and the people whom the Oligarchs rule over.  Why do so many people always have to lose for the powerful to always win?  The answer is that because we are divided instead of being united.

If I were in Putin's shoes this Wednesday in Geneva Switzerland, I would respond to Biden's criticisms of Russia's annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 with the fact that then U.S. Senator Biden voted for Bush #2's 2003 invasion of Iraq whereby the U.S. Government still controls around 85 percent of Iraq's oil reserves, which are the second largest oil reserves in the world next to Saudi Arabia.  If I were in Putin's shoes, I would ask Biden how he was right to vote for the 2003 invasion of Iraq and the U.S. Government's ongoing control of Iraq's vast oil reserves, while Biden believes that Putin is wrong for Putin's 2014 invasion and annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.  If I were in Putin's shoes, I would also remind Biden that the U.S.A.'s economy centers around exporting military arms to the world's governments, and that when Russia's economy collapsed in the early 1990s after the end of the Soviet Union, the U.S. Government took over Russia's market share in arms exports to the world's governments.  In closing, if Biden really believes that Russia should follow the rules of international relations, I believe that Putin should hold up a proverbial mirror to Biden's face!

Like I wrote previously, prior to the lovely ladies who now run Pittsfield politics, Pittsfield and Berkshire County still had violent crimes, drugs, gangs, poverty, and so on.  I understand that we cannot go back and change the past in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and that we all want the lovely ladies to change the present and future.  I understand that the lovely ladies are not able to change things for the better, and for that they receive a lot of criticisms.  I understand that Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington lashed out at Judge Jennifer Tyne because she is frustrated at the lack of progress in restoring law and order in the beautiful Berkshires.  She (Andrea Harrington) made a mistake.  She should admit that she made a mistake, but that her heart was in the right place.  We all make mistakes in our lives, and that is what makes us human instead of mindless machines.  If anyone tells you that they are perfect and never make mistakes in their lives, then they are self-deluded liars, insecure, and have agendas.  I actually believe that Andrea Harrington's flawed actions show her passion for her elected position as Berkshire District Attorney.

On another subject, I watched and listened to the news yesterday (15-June-2021) about President Joe Biden's meeting with Russian President Putin today in Geneva, Switzerland today.  As I understand it, every U.S. President from George W. Bush, to Barack Obama, to Donald Trump, and now Joe Biden believed that they could negotiate with Putin only to fall for Putin's KGB political games.  If Putin is truly playing U.S. Presidents over the past 21 years, then why does Biden believe he will be any different than his predecessors?  Also, the U.S. Government invaded Iraq for its second largest oil reserves in the world (next to Saudi Arabia) in 2003, but the U.S. Government is being the pot calling the kettle black because the Russian Government invaded Crimea in 2014.  The U.S. Government's main or number one non-farm export are military weapons, and the U.S. Government knows that if they don't sell arms to foreign countries' governments, then Putin will.  Nonetheless, I wish Joe Biden all the luck in the world today.

We all know how the Biden "Crime" Family made all of their tens of millions of dollars each!  His name is Hunter Biden and he went to China and took home $224 million while his dad was the Vice President.  I was being sarcastic by writing that we all don't know how Joe Biden and his "crime" family are all worth tens of millions of dollars.  Joe Biden approved Putin's oil and gas pipeline overseas, but he shutdown the oil and gas pipelines in the U.S.A., which caused many thousands of American workers to lose their jobs during the K-shaped recovery/recession.  Billionaire John Forbes Kerry invested millions of dollars in the oil and gas business, but in March - or only 3 months ago - he was told by the Biden administration to sell his greenhouse emitting investments.  Ed Markey of Chevy Chase Maryland told Massachusetts voters last year in 2020 that he is going to save the world from global warming with his $100 trillion Green New Deal legislation that he knows will never pass in the Swamp.  It is all a big joke to China, Russia, Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, John Kerry, Ed Markey, and the rest of the phony Swamp creatures!

The government is just another PREDATORY industry that only does DISSERVICES TO the American people instead of investing in the American people for socioeconomic and financial equity and justice - or a strong middle class and democracy.  Both the Republican and Democratic Party are PREDATORY!  They pretend to fight each other on the public stage, but behind the scenes they work together to screw over 98 percent of the U.S. population.  The billionaires, Wall Street, corporate elites, ruling elites always win, while the rest of the American people always lose with very few exceptions.

Joe Biden and his "crime" family made tens of millions from Hunter Biden's alleged money laundering schemes with China when Joe Biden was the Vice President.  Hunter Biden also did business in Ukraine and Russia.  Joe Biden is killing the U.S. energy business, while Russia and China are still building oil and gas pipelines and burning coal.  U.S. inflation has risen to decades highs (1992 for core inflation, and 2008 for overall inflation), which is worse than any federal tax the Biden administration could place on the working class.  Joe Biden has billionaire John Forbes Kerry as his climate czar.  John Kerry had millions of dollars in personal investments in the oil and gas industry prior to him selling his greenhouse emitting energy stocks this March of 2021 - or only 3 short months ago.  While Biden and Kerry are both very wealthy themselves, they killed tens of thousands of energy jobs that American workers depended on to provide for themselves and their families.  The fact is that the U.S.A. is still the number two polluter of greenhouse gases in the world behind.  If you put the U.S.A. and China together, we/they account for a little less than 50 percent of the world's entire greenhouse gas emissions that is causing global warming.

Sometimes I think about how nice it would be for me and my family to be politically connected and wealthy like the ruling elites in the Swamp, but I also have to be able to sleep at night with a clean and good conscience.  I don't want to be associated with the PREDATORY government that is screwing over hundreds of millions of American people.  I want to be a good man/person in the limited time I exist on Earth.  I want to speak out about career politicians such as Smitty Pignatelli who openly supports and votes for shutting the people of Massachusetts out of Beacon Hill's corrupt sausage making.  I want to speak out about retired state Legislators such as Dan Bosley, Peter Larkin, and Stan Rosenberg who all collect their taxpayer-funded public pensions and perks, while making 6-figure lobbyist salaries each on Beacon Hill's Statehouse.  I want to speak out about PAC Man Richie Neal only representing K Street corporate lobbyist firms, which have nothing at all to do with the people who live in his Western Massachusetts Congressional District.  I want to speak out about Hunter Biden's business dealings with adversarial foreign countries like Russia and China that made his dad, Joe Biden, and the rest of his "crime" family all worth tens of millions of dollars each.

To be clear, the government is PREDATORY, and the ruling elites only do DISSERVICES against the American people in return for money and power so they can sit on their fat ASSES as lifetime career politicians!

Joe Biden has been in the Swamp for nearly 50 years, yet he and his Biden "Crime" Family are all fabulously wealthy with tens of millions of dollars in each of their respective bank accounts.  Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden is being investigated for money laundering by federal law enforcement agencies for bringing home hundreds of millions of dollars from China when Joe Biden was the Vice President under Barack Obama.  Hunter Biden published a book this year of 2021 where he confessed to smoking crack cocaine every 15 minutes and drowning himself with alcohol while going to strip clubs and hiring sex workers.  Hunter Biden has at least 5 children by at least 3 women.  Joe Biden said on national TV that he is proud of his last surviving son Hunter Biden.  How could any rational person believe that Joe Biden's promises of an ethical presidential administration would be honored?

The Lovely Linda is sitting on tens of millions of slush fund and Biden Buck$ direct aid public dollars, yet she still hiked municipal spending (and municipal taxes and fees) by 5 percent starting on July 1, 2021.  That would be like me winning the lottery jackpot, and then telling my family and/or friends to pick up the lunch bill for me.  On the state government level, Governor Charlie Baker and Beacon Hill lawmakers are sitting on billions of slush fund and stimulus public dollars, yet they (Boston politicians) still mostly voted to possibly raise state taxes on Massachusetts' nearly 20,000 millionaires by 80 percent (from 5% to 9%) to raise an additional $1 billion to $2 billion in a couple of years from now.  That would be like me winning the lottery jackpot, and then telling my roommates to pay the mortgage or rent bill for me.

Lastly, the U.S. national debt - U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time (usdebtclock.org) - is a big joke because it will never be paid back.  The federal government mostly borrows money from itself - making trillions of dollars in money out of thin air.  Where do all of the federal dollars go?  The one thing I know is that the U.S. Government makes its money by selling arms to the world's governments.  The U.S.'s #1 non-farm export are military weapons.  The U.S. Government is in the business of WAR!  Since the end of World War 2, the U.S. Government has killed millions of foreign Peoples in military conflicts or endless war.  We fought Nazi Germany during World War 2 to stop Hitler's war machine, but then we ended building our own war machine.  As long as the U.S. Government sells arms and war to the world, we will continue to borrow trillions of dollars decades into the future.

I liked both online videos [on the Planet Valenti blog].  When I was serving in the U.S. Army in Germany decades ago, the German people all knew about Stockbridge and Norman Rockwell.  The Generalissimo helps to make Stockbridge famous around the world.  I liked the stand up comedian's take about old school neighborhood company versus today's technological social media.

On another subject, everything went wrong in Afghanistan, and now thousands upon thousands of innocent people will be killed by the Taliban in the coming weeks.  This is a nightmare and a tragedy, and a complete failure of leadership by President Joe Biden.  Where was the transition period between the American troop withdrawal and the new independent Afghan government?  What did Biden - who had his deferments for his Asthma during the draft during the Vietnam Conflict - think was going to happen there?  Trillions of federal dollars and thousands of American Soldiers dead over the past 2 decades was all for nothing.  We've been in Iraq for nearly the same time period - some say even longer - but unlike Afghanistan, Iraq - then U.S. Senator Joe Biden voted for then U.S. President George W. Bush's Iraq Conflict - has the second largest oil reserves in the world next to Saudi Arabia, and we ain't leaving Iraq anytime soon for one big obvious reason: OIL.  Biden should resign or be impeached and convicted over all of this!

The main thing many people do NOT understand about foreign countries is that they will KILL anyone who opposes their regime.  Western Democracies use the rule of law and open trials by juries against our enemies, but many foreign countries use violence.  Hitler, Stalin, Chairman Mao and so on collectively KILLED hundreds of millions of innocent Peoples and people to show their respective regimes' power.  The Taliban in Afghanistan also KILLS anyone who opposes their regime.  There are NOT two political parties and elections and peaceful transfers of political power in Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and the like.  The Afghanistan military folded to the Taliban because the Afghani Soldiers' survival was at stake.  They did NOT want to be KILLED by the Taliban.  In closing, the U.S.A. is but a drop of water in the proverbial Ocean of human history when it comes to democracy and a government ruled by laws instead of men.  I wish everyone would understand that many foreign regimes KILL INNOCENT Peoples and people for their respective country's legitimacy.

Hello Patrick Fennell,

Thank you for sharing your letter to the Editor with me.  I actually agreed with President Donald Trump calling the President of Ukraine and asking about Hunter Biden's business dealings, drug and alcohol use, paying overseas sex workers, who may have been sex trafficked by Russian Mafia groups, for sex, and so on.  If I was the U.S. President back then, I would have done the same thing that Donald Trump did because Hunter Biden gave the U.S. Government a very bad name overseas, as well as stateside.

Afghanistan is a total debacle and a tragedy.  The Taliban will make young women, including minors, into sex slaves or they will kill the young women's families.  The Taliban will make young men, including minors, into Taliban Soldiers or they will kill the young men's families.  It is similar to what Hitler and other 20th Century mass murdering dictators did to gain power over the people in their respective countries.  

As Veterans, we are both saddened by the deaths of 13 U.S. Armed Forces Members.  President Joe Biden needs to declare war against ISIS-K and then destroy the terrorists before they do any further damage.  If ISIS-K continues to grow, the U.S. national security will remain at risk.  

I am unhappy with Biden in the White House on many levels because he is failing to manage many crises at home and abroad.  The U.S. Government's closest allies are upset with Biden right now.  Even the Democrats in the Swamp are unhappy with Biden right now.  If things don't change soon, the 2022 midterm elections will heavily favor the Republican Party, which means that 81-year-old Nancy Pelosi will no longer be Speaker in 2023.

If a phone is an impeachable offense, so what is leaving over 250 Americans behind in Afghanistan worth? If an unruly protest around Congress is impeachable what are the deaths of thirteen brave service men and woman worth?  Is the United States safer today than before Septeber 11, 2001? 

Answer - NO!

Based on making the Taliban and Isis a military super power will anyone in the Pentagon, Secrtary of State or Defenses office be fired. Right now about a half a million Automatic weapons have been given to terrorists. Will this change the Gun Control tone in the US?

To the editor: It looks like we’re in a crisis.

There is a worldwide shortage of semiconductor chips. Just about everything we need or use depends on chips to function. A car requires many chips. If it is missing one chip, it won’t run. That’s why you can actually sell a used car for more than you paid for it. It has a full set of chips. New cars on the other hand are a victim of the chip shortage. Major car companies are cutting back on production by 40 percent because they can’t get the chips they need.

The shortage in chips translates into a shortage of almost everything. Combine that with a supply hang-up where hundreds of container ships sit motionless just offshore of our largest ports while workers are quitting their jobs, and the economy could be in big trouble. The chip shortage alone affects food, energy, all kinds of technology — just about everything. Prices can only keep going up. It’s a matter of supply and demand. High demand and low supply can only lead to inflation. And the chip shortage is expected to last several years.

The Federal Reserve is making things worse by printing trillions of dollars out of thin air. The more dollars they print, the less each dollar is worth. All this is going to affect the financial markets. Commodities have been moving up since June. And I’m sure everyone has noticed the higher prices for everything from food to houses.

Finally, Christmas looks to be rather bleak this year. Smart shoppers will buy their presents now. By December there might not be a lot to buy.

I received your forwarded email about Joe Biden being the one U.S. Senator during Gerald Ford's administration who blocked support and aid to the Vietnamese supporters of the U.S. Government at the end of the Vietnam Conflict.  I also received your past emails about Joe Biden's debacle at the end of the 20 year long Afghanistan Conflict.  I agree with your emails that Joe Biden has a failed public record in U.S. military conflicts for nearly 50 years.  I read that during the Vietnam Conflict, Joe Biden received 5 deferments, including a deferment for Asthma.  Joe Biden never served in the United States Armed Forces.  The same is said about Donald Trump, who also received five deferments during the Vietnam Conflict, including one for bone spurs.  Donald Trump never served in the United States Armed Forces.

On the Green New Deal that Joe Biden is supporting, the USA is still the number two emitter of greenhouse gas pollution in the world, while China is the number one polluter in the world.  Combined, China and the USA contribute to nearly fifty percent of all greenhouse gas pollution in the world.  I do not understand why Joe Biden is pushing the Green New Deal that is killing tens of thousands of living wage energy jobs and gas prices surging to seven year highs.  It will cost up to 30 percent more for families to heat their homes this winter.  This energy crisis and inflation cannot continue under Biden's Green New Deal.

The irony of Joe Biden's public record is that he oversaw one of the worst U.S. government debacles in Afghanistan, where an estimated 14 million innocent people there are predicted to die of starvation and cold weather this upcoming winter, while he himself received 5 deferments during the Vietnam Conflict, and his Green New Deal has killed tens of thousands of energy jobs and led to the energy crisis and huge inflation, while he himself is worth tens of millions of dollars, his hypocritical climate bureaucrat John Kerry is a billionaire, and the USA is still the number two polluter of greenhouse gases in the world.

I believe that Clarence Fanto's heart is in the right place.  Unlike Planet Valenti blog, Clarence Fanto doesn't challenge and criticize the ruling elites in Berkshire County.  Clarence Fanto writes from a progressive political point of view that is the hallmark of the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) newspaper.  Blogger Dan Valenti writes from a neutral point of view where he challenges and criticizes both the progressive and conservative politicians, including the lousy Berkshire legislative delegation to Boston who only does DISSERVICES to the people of Western Massachusetts.

The new Netflix film Don’t Look Up is a star-studded allegory about climate change. The world faces a clear and imminent threat, and the question the movie poses is: Will we be able to overcome the narrow self-interests of politicians, the business community, and individual nations to defeat the threat we collectively face? Will too many people around the world be too gullible and passive to demand the right actions from their leaders?

In the case of the film, it does not give away too much to suggest that doing the right thing is a challenge. The film is not just a parable about our inertia when it comes to the ever worsening, nearly irreversible climate crisis—it is a reminder that the idea that the planet will effectively unite in the interest of self-preservation is itself a romantic myth.

The coronavirus pandemic has shown that bona fide global cooperation is more fanciful and out of reach than ever.

It was a very different sort of Hollywood product, President Ronald Reagan, who—with Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev—helped promote this fantasy of an enlightened global community. During a 1985 summit in Geneva, their conversation took an odd turn. As reported by Gorbachev himself, “President Reagan suddenly said to me, ‘What would you do if the United States were suddenly attacked by someone from outer space? Would you help us?’” Gorbachev responded, “No doubt about it.” Reagan replied, “We too.”

Our modern experience with shared existential threats tells another story.

Nearly Two Years and More Than 800,000 Deaths Later, Biden Is Playing Catch-Up With the Coronavirus

The climate crisis is, of course, one part of the tale. The ancient Greeks contemplated whether deforestation or draining swamps might impact rainfall. But warnings that humans could cause global warming by producing carbon dioxide have themselves been around a long time. Nineteenth-century scientists understood the concept and, in 1896, Svante Arrhenius published the first paper explicitly warning of this threat.

We know the rest of the story. Although today there is very nearly universal agreement among scientists that global warming is real but that its consequences are likely to be severely disruptive—costing billions of dollars and threatening millions of lives—the governments of the planet Earth have moved far too slowly. In just this past year, we effectively exceeded the warming targets set during the Paris 2015 climate talks, we have seen record-breaking heat, faster sea-level rise, shrinking polar ice caps, and devastating weather… and still the COP 26 talks in Edinburgh produced underwhelming results.

Here in the U.S., Sen. Joe Manchin and his GOP allies blocked major new funding for climate programs—and he actively defended the fossil-fuel interests so prominent in his home state of West Virginia. We could be on a path to sea levels rising as much as seven feet by the end of the century and right now it seems unlikely we’ll be able to reverse those trends.

Other climate-related existential threats—from lack of water to famine—have more typically produced conflict than cooperation between neighboring states. Making matters worse is that most of our international institutions were designed to be weak—to let big countries like the U.S. have their way, to support the initiatives of a rich few states, and not to be able to impose their will on individual countries in an effective way. As a result, many responses to global threats are either weak or ad hoc.

But it’s not just climate. Another existential threat we have faced for almost eight decades is that posed by nuclear weapons. We know that nuclear warfare would be horrific, and that a nuclear exchange by superpowers like the U.S. and Russia or China could destroy the planet. While we have had arms agreements and efforts to contain the spread of such weapons, look at the headlines. Iran is nearing the capacity to manufacture nuclear warheads. North Korea reminds us regularly it has joined the nuclear club. Israel and India got such weapons half a century ago. Pakistan did in 1998.

Today, there are more than 13,000 nuclear warheads known to exist worldwide, almost 12,000 of which belong to the U.S. and Russia. What’s more, we have let some key arms agreements lapse in recent years, and have made precious little progress on the big, bold ideas that enlightened self-interest (or common sense) might dictate, like eliminating nuclear weapons altogether. What’s more, there have been proponents, such as former President Trump, of investing in “smaller”—which is to say more usable—nuclear weapons, which would increase the risks we face. In other words, more than three-quarters of a century after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the threat of nuclear catastrophe remains and, in many respects, it is getting worse.

And you’ll be very disappointed if you think we’ve got good global mechanisms in place to address next-generation threats from cyber to AI-empowered weapons to biowarfare.

COVID-19, of course, is another menace that has defied cooperation for nearly two years of death and despair.

For all the rhetoric about the need for global solutions, the response of the international community to containing the spread of the pandemic has been woefully inadequate. The U.S. has committed over 1 billion doses to the international community, but the need is perhaps 11 times that. Even those commitments are slow in delivery and distribution. Nations, including the U.S., have been careful to build vaccine, testing, and PPE stockpiles before sharing with other countries.

The result has been major outbreaks in the developing world, where estimates are that the poorest countries may not receive the vaccine until 2023. Only a tiny percentage of people in those countries have received even one dose of vaccine. While vaccinating half the world’s population is not an accomplishment to be minimized, the reality is that 40 countries have vaccinated less than a quarter of their populations. Other issues like export bans, production levels, intellectual-property barriers, and supply-chain blockages are solvable, but are often gummed up by industries or politicians acting just like those in Don’t Look Up do: based on self-interest, ignorance, or a toxic combination of both.

The result of course, has been the emergence of new variants in the undervaccinated parts of the world that ultimately affect the whole planet and prolong the pandemic. For Americans, the short-sightedness of government leaders is familiar. While the Biden Administration has done a remarkable job in getting Americans vaccinated, they have faced resistance at every step of the way from red-state governors who seem willing to sacrifice their own people in order to pander to the leaders of their party and the most extreme elements of their base. The vaccine and the know-how to contain the disease are available everywhere. But people living in counties that voted for Donald Trump are almost three times as likely to die of COVID-19 as those in areas that voted for President Biden.

There you have it in microcosm. If the U.S. can’t get its act together to combat a disease that has infected more than 50 million Americans and has killed about 825,000, how can we expect the planet earth to do any better? You would think survival mattered enough to look past our differences. Apparently not.

Higher life forms elsewhere in the universe will no doubt look at this and see it as an invitation, Reagan and Gorbachev had it wrong. We’re not a planet that is likely to come together to put up much of a fight against alien invaders.

The US will meet with Russia in Switzerland on Monday, 10-January-2022 over Russia's threat to invade Ukraine.  I am hoping for a peaceful resolution through diplomacy.  Similar to China threatening to invade Taiwan, Russia's threat to invade Ukraine parallels Joe Biden's vote nearly 2 decades ago for the Bush 2 big oil administration to invade Iraq, which has the world's second largest oil reserves next to Saudi Arabia.  But now the proverbial tables have turned, and it is Joe Biden who is threatening to destroy Russia's already struggling economy if Russia doesn't back off its threat to invade Ukraine.  I also don't think it helped matters when Joe Biden called the President for life of Russia, Putin, a "KILLER" to the world.  Joe Biden humiliated Putin on the international stage, and now Joe Biden is threatening to destroy the already Russian economy if Putin continues to threaten Ukraine with military invasion.  Joe Biden also threatened China with World War 3 if China invades Taiwan.  Last year, Joe Biden oversaw a total debacle in Afghanistan where one million innocent children over there are predicted to die of preventable causes such as mass starvation and disease during this Winter of 2021/2022.  Moreover, an estimated 14 million Afghanistan People and Peoples are expected to die of preventable causes during this Winter of 2021/2022.  If Joe Biden's foreign policy debacles and economic and military threats all come to pass, we are talking about the deaths of billions of People and Peoples around the world.   Joe Biden will have more blood on his hands than Hitler, Stalin and Chairman Mao combined multiplied by 10 or 20 or even 30 times.  I hope that Joe Biden stops calling Putin a "KILLER" and thereby humiliating the President for life of Russia on the international change.  I hope that Joe Biden stops threatening China with World War 3.  I hope that Joe Biden will hold up a proverbial mirror to himself and reflect on his vote to invade oil rich Iraq nearly 2 decades ago.  I hope Joe Biden will grow a heart and finally begin to help the millions of innocent people and Peoples who are dying of preventable causes in Afghanistan after he pulled out of there last year.  I believe that Joe Biden should be impeached and convicted and removed from the Office of U.S. President.  I believe that Joe Biden should resign the Office of U.S. President.  Joe Biden is a FAILURE!

Hello blogger Dan Valenti, I had Sunday brunch with my dad today like you have brunch with Chuck Garivaltis.  I asked my father if Joe Biden should have openly called Putin a "KILLER" on the world stage.  My dad responded that Joe Biden should not have called Putin a "KILLER" on the world stage and that it won't help the US' diplomacy with Russia in Switzerland this week over Russia' threat to invade Ukraine.  My opinion is that Joe Biden should not be humiliating Putin on the international stage.  What do you think Putin is going to do?  He is going to stand up to Joe Biden, NATO and US foreign policy interests.  I remember back in history class that FDR and Stalin, who were allies against Hitler in WW2, had a personal friendship and there were old photos of the two Superpower leaders laughing and smiling together when they met in Europe.  What happened to the US and Russia having common interests and treating each other with respect?  With China's threat to invade Taiwan, Joe Biden threatened China with WW3, which the White House had to walk back, if they follow through with their threat to invade Taiwan.  In Afghanistan, Joe Biden's pullout was a complete debacle!  The Taliban government is responsible for the deaths of one million children in Afghanistan during this Winter of 2021/2022, as well as an estimated 14 million people and Peoples in Afghanistan during this Winter of 2021/2022.  At home, Joe Biden's largest federal spending bill(s) in US history and our pandemic economy has led to the largest increase in US inflation in 40 years.  Joe Biden was not prepared for Covid-19's current fifth wave that is seeing record infections, hospitals at over capacity, and the world not receiving enough vaccines and medications.  Joe Biden's one year anniversary January 6th political speech attacking Donald Trump for him provoking the Capitol Hill insurrection was spot on, but it was also a big distraction to Joe Biden's failures in his first year as U.S. President.  Lastly, I asked my dad at Sunday brunch if there is a difference between Joe Biden's vote nearly two decades ago for the US to invade Iraq, which has the world's second largest oil reserves next to Saudi Arabia where most of the 9/11 terrorists came from, and Russia's threat to invade Ukraine as well as China's threat to invade Taiwan.  My dad responded to me by saying, No, not really.  My dad reminded me that John Kerry and Hillary Clinton also voted for the US to invade Iraq.

It sounds to me like Joe Biden is saying to Russia and China: Do as I say, but not as I did when I voted for the U.S. Government to invade Iraq nearly 2 decades ago.  Of course, Iraq has the second largest oil reserves in the world next to the U.S. Government's ally Saudi Arabia's largest oil reserves in the world.  The U.S. Government controls around 85 percent of Iraq's oil reserves, leaving the rest to the people/government of Iraq.  Joe Biden is threatening to destroy Russia's struggling economy.  Joe Biden threatened China with WW3, which the White House had to walk back with China.  Oh, how the tables have turned from Joe Biden's "Yes vote" to invade Iraq to him threatening Russia and China for their respective threats to invade Ukraine and Taiwan.  In closing, no one is right when everyone is WRONG, including Joe Biden!

Maintaining our national security and the safety of Americans at home and abroad must remain our government’s highest priority. In addition to defending against terrorism and military threats, U.S. foreign policy has historically promoted freedom, human rights, and other American interests across the globe. I am proud that the United States has long been a leader in providing humanitarian relief to those in need, and I believe our country can and should continue to help protect and promote the democratic system of government.

I share your concerns about the situation in Ukraine and the safety and well-being of the Ukrainian people. Ukraine is a sovereign, democratic nation, and the United States and our allies will not tolerate Vladimir Putin's attempts to rebuild a Soviet empire. Russia’s aggression against an independent and sovereign nation directly violates international law and threatens the safety and security of the region and the stability of peace in Europe.  The United States and our allies must bring to bear crippling sanctions on Russia, as we also provide support to the Ukrainian people and our NATO allies.  Now, it is paramount that the global community stand together and send a message to Putin and any dictator willing to use violence to achieve their ambitions that there will be consequences for breaking international law and violating a nation’s territorial integrity.  As your Representative, I will continue to monitor the circumstances in Ukraine and place my trust in the military, intelligence, and diplomatic leaders tracking these events. 

Introduced by Representative Gregory Meeks (NY-05), H.R. 6470, the Defending Ukraine Sovereignty Act would impose punishing economic and other consequences on Russia if it further invades or undermines Ukrainian sovereignty. What does it mean that Russia's dictator Putin put his nuclear forces on high alert?  Has a nuclear power head of state/government ever put his or her nuclear forces on high alert before this weekend if February 26/27, 2022?  Is Putin only making a threat to nuke the world, or will he deploy his nuclear arsenal on the world if he deems it necessary to achieve his military and political ends?  What are we all supposed to think and do about this scary situation?  Is there any way to stop Putin now, or will we be stuck with him and his nuclear forces being on high alert for the years to come?  I am saddened by Putin's invasion of Ukraine, and the devastation he wrought on the people who live there.  I still believe that Joe Biden should not have called Putin a "KILLER" last year of 2021.  I still believe that Joe Biden should not have threatened China with WW3 last year of 2021 over China's threat to invade Taiwan.  Joe Biden should not be provoking his adversaries Putin and Xi with his hostile and threatening words.  Due to Joe Biden's hostilities, China is now allied with Russia, which is the worst possible scenario for Biden and future presidential administrations.  The U.S.A., Russia, and/or China cannot directly fight each other without risking nuclear war, which would end life on Earth.  Biden, Putin and Xi need to be the adults in the proverbial room and stop this madness before it is too late for humankind.

All three Superpower Heads of State/Government in the U.S.A., Russia and China need to grow the Hell up fast.  Joe Biden has Putin and Xi allied against him/the U.S. Government.  Joe Biden did not help matters by humiliating Putin on the world stage last year of 2021 by calling Putin a "KILLER".  Joe Biden should NEVER have threatened China with WW3 last year of 2021 over China's threat to invade Taiwan.  Joe Biden should not have killed tens of thousands of American jobs in the energy sector.  I never read about or witnessed a U.S. President who killed so many American jobs prior to Joe Biden's Green New Deal LIES.  Despite our country's failed and outright hostile-mouthed U.S. President Joe Biden, the world is on the brink of nuclear war.  There are many countries west of Putin who are fearing Russia's military threats, including Finland and Sweden.  There are many countries who are asking if they will be next after Putin's invasion of Ukraine.  Putin needs to STOP his military invasions and nuclear war threats before it becomes too late for the world.

Tulsi Gabbard's speech yesterday (Saturday, 2/26/2022) at CPAC in Orlando, Florida pointed out that the neoliberal Democrats, such as Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and company, have fanned the flames of foreign conflict with Russia and China.  Wall Street, K Street, and the neoliberal Democrats in the Swamp are all profiting off of the military industrial complex.  U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is said to be worth around one-half-billion dollars from her Pentagon-related stock holdings.  Tulsi Gabbard said the Elites are to blame for the military crises in the world.  Unlike Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton, Tulsi Gabbard is a United States Army Veteran who served in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Tulsi Gabbard is basically telling us all that the neoliberal Democrats in power in the Swamp are lying to the American People, including by bashing Donald Trump and the Republican Party.  Tulsi Gabbard is a Democrat, which means that she is going against her own political party to stop Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and the other neoliberal Democrats who are tanking our country and placing our world into escalating hostilities with Russia and China for their own financial and political gains.

If I were in Joe Biden's shoes, I would say that the U.S. President, Putin and Xi all need to stop this madness by being the adults in the proverbial room to bring the world back to peace and prosperity for all people and Peoples.  But according to Tulsi Gabbard, Joe Biden is doing the opposite of that, and Joe Biden's hostile words have proved her point.

The Green New Deal is pure propaganda because the Pentagon produces more greenhouse gases than 140 countries combined. The U.S.A. is the number two polluter of global warming emissions behind China, whereby the two countries produce nearly 50 percent of the world's greenhouse gases. The U.S.A. and China both have large military industrial complexes. There was no valid reason why Joe Biden killed tens of thousands of American energy jobs other than politics. John Forbes Kerry, who is a billionaire, had tens of millions of dollars in personal investments in energy stocks one year ago prior to Joe Biden naming him to be his Climate Czar. The neoliberals in the Swamp are making a financial fortune off of Putin's invasion of Ukraine, which means there will be more global warming emissions in 2022 than ever before. Joe Biden may have wanted hostilities with Putin and Xi to bolster the U.S. Government's military industrial complex, and also to distract the American People from his failed presidential administration. The only drawback is an unstable world is the very real threat of nuclear war, but what do the ELITES care so long as they have all of the money and power?

The entire Berkshire state house legislative delegation - Shitty Pigpen, Paul Marxism, Trippy Country Buffet, and the career Mayor - to Boston voted for the Green New Deal bill, which passed by a 144 to 12 margin on Thursday late-afternoon of 3/3/2022.

The Green New Deal is a lie.  It is raising energy prices and killing tens of thousands of American energy jobs.  The U.S. sells a lot of its energy to foreign countries.  When Biden used the strategic oil reserve, the oil was sold to China and India instead of used in the U.S.A.  If the U.S. energy industry didn't sell a lot of its energy to foreign countries, then U.S. energy prices would be at least 50 percent lower in the U.S.A.

The U.S. Government's number one non-farm export are arms sales.  The U.S. Government imports energy from foreign countries so that they will have more money to buy military weapons from the U.S. military industrial complex.  When the Soviet Union disbanded and the Russian economy collapsed 3 decades ago, the U.S. Government took over Russia's market share in arms sales.  When Bill Clinton was the U.S. President in the mid-1990s, the Stock Market boomed from his administration's record high arms sales to foreign countries while Russia was rebuilding its distressed economy.

The Green New Deal is really about the U.S. Government's military industrial complex and its profitable selling of arms to foreign countries.  Remember, the Pentagon emits more greenhouse gases than 140 countries combined, and the U.S.A. is the number two polluter of Global Warming emissions behind China.  Combined, China and the U.S.A. account for nearly 50 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the world due to their respective huge military industrial complexes.  The Green New Deal is really a SHELL GAME for the military industrial complex and arms sales.

"White House attempts to walk back Biden stating Putin can't stay in power"

The White House is attempting to walk back a major moment in President Biden’s remarks on Saturday, in which he declared that Russian President Vladimir Putin should not remain in power. 

“For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power,” the president said at the end of his speech in Warsaw, Poland.

Following the remarks, a White House official said that comment was referring to Putin exercising power outside of Russia.

“The president’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region. He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia, or regime change,” the official said in an email. 

Much of Biden’s speech involved placing blame for the Russian invasion into Ukraine directly on Putin and delivering a plea to the Russian people that they not be welcoming or supportive of the war. The comment was a particularly notable moment, however, appearing to mark a shift in Biden’s thinking about Putin’s position in Russia. 

It’s unclear if the White House meant that Biden muddled his words or went off-script with his comments. The White House did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment to clarify the statement.

Biden at one point in his remarks declared, “It is Putin, it is Vladimir Putin who is to blame. Period.” And he called the war “an example of one of the oldest human impulses, using brute force and disinformation to satisfy a craving for absolute power and control.”

The president called Putin “a butcher,” when asked earlier on Saturday what he thought of him for having caused the humanitarian fallout.

He also on Friday reiterated his belief that Putin has committed war crimes, after Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday said the Biden administration has determined that Russian forces have committed war crimes in Ukraine.

Joe Biden's own White House administration has had to walk back his hostile words and threats against Putin, Russia and China.  Please understand that Russia and China know that Joe Biden voted for Bush #2's Invasion/War in Iraq - home of the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world; Saudi Arabia is #1 - nearly 20 years ago.  Please understand that Russia and China know that the Pentagon pollutes more greenhouse gases than 140 countries combined, and it is a fact that the U.S.A. is the #2 polluter of greenhouse gases in the world; China is #1, and the U.S.A. and China combine account for nearly 50 percent of the world's greenhouse gas emissions.  Everything that Joe Biden is saying with hostilities and threats against Russia and China goes against Joe Biden's and the U.S. Government's own public record.  I am not condoning Putin's unprovoked invasion/war in Ukraine.  Nor am I condoning China's threat to invade Taiwan.

Joe Biden has brought Putin and Xi together with his hostile words and threats.  If I was in Joe Biden's shoes as a would-be U.S. President, I would be firm with Putin and Xi, but I would not go to Europe twice so far and call Putin a "KILLER" and now a "BUTCHER", nor would I have threatened China with WW3 over its threat to invade Taiwan last Autumn of 2021.

When I took history classes in high school and college decades ago, there were old photos of FDR and Stalin warmly smiling and joyfully laughing together when we were allies during WW2.  Later, when Nixon was in the White House, there were old photos of him standing with Chairman Mao.  Hitler killed an estimated 17 million innocent people and Peoples, while Stalin killed between an estimated 23 million to 60 million innocent people and Peoples, while Chairman Mao killed an estimated 78 million people and Peoples.  Stalin and Chairman Mao combined killed well over 100 million innocent people and Peoples, which means that for every one innocent people/Peoples Hitler killed, Stalin and Chairman Mao combined killed 6 or more innocent people/Peoples.  I am not minimizing Hitler's evil genocide in the tragic Holocaust whereby an estimated 6 million Jewish People were systematically killed by the evil Nazi German state.

FDR was diplomatic with Stalin during WW2.  Nixon was diplomatic with Chairman Mao during his presidency.  But Joe Biden is hostile to both Putin/Russia and China.  Now, Putin and Xi are united against Joe Biden and the U.S. Government.  Putin and Xi don't take Biden seriously, but they both take each other seriously to stand united against the West.

I go back to the old saying: What ever happened to being a good man?  Even if a U.S. President such as FDR or Nixon have to deal with authoritarian mass murdering dictators (Stalin then Chairman Mao), they gained their cooperation by being good men with personal warmth and diplomacy.  Biden is doing the opposite of FDR and Nixon with his hostility towards Putin and Xi, who both know that Joe Biden voted for the Iraq invasion/war nearly 20 years ago, and about the Democrat's Green New Deal propaganda that defies the Pentagon and the U.S.A.'s standing in the world as the second biggest mass polluter of greenhouse gases in the world.

"Biden: US would defend Taiwan militarily if China invaded"

President Biden on Monday said the U.S. would be willing to defend Taiwan militarily if China were to try to take it by force.

“Are you willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if it comes to that?” Biden was asked at a press conference in Tokyo alongside the Japanese prime minister.

“Yes,” Biden responded. “That’s the commitment we made. That’s the commitment we made.”

“Look, here’s the situation. We agree with the ‘One China’ policy … but the idea that to be taken by force, just taken by force, is just not appropriate,” Biden continued. “It will dislocate the entire region and be another action similar to what happened in Ukraine.”

Biden said he does not believe China will attempt to take Taiwan by force, adding that the united global response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine can serve as a deterrent against possible aggression by Beijing.

The White House shortly after the press conference reiterated Biden’s comments that the U.S. position on Taiwan has not changed and it still abides by the “One China” policy, which recognizes Beijing as the representative government of China but considers Taiwan’s status unsettled.

Still, Monday is the latest instance of the president’s comments spurring some confusion.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin expressed “strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition” to Biden’s comments.

“China has no room for compromise or concessions on issues involving China’s core interests such as sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

China has been increasingly aggressive in recent years, stepping up military flights into Taiwan’s airspace and sending ships through the Taiwan Strait. The pattern has raised alarms among the international community that Beijing may ultimately plan to take Taiwan by force.

Under the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, the U.S. is committed to providing Taiwan with arms for its defense. The law does not commit the U.S. to sending troops to Taiwan to defend it.

Biden was asked at a CNN town hall last October whether the U.S. would defend Taiwan if it were attacked by China, and he said the U.S. would.

The White House quickly walked back Biden’s comments at the time, saying he was not announcing a policy change.

"Biden says U.S. troops would defend Taiwan in event of attack by China"

President Biden has again confirmed that U.S. troops would defend Taiwan in the event of an attack from China, the clearest recent statement Biden has made about how far the United States would go to support Taiwan militarily.

In an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday evening, Biden told host Scott Pelley that the United States would defend Taiwan “if in fact there was an unprecedented attack.” China claims Taiwan, a self-governing democracy that is home to 23 million people, as its own territory, and has asserted it could one day use force to take control of the island.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine more than six months ago, Biden had emphasized several times that U.S. military forces would not fight Russian troops on Ukrainian soil. Pelley pressed Biden on whether the situation would be different in the event of an attack on Taiwan.

“So unlike Ukraine, to be clear, sir, U.S. forces — U.S. men and women — would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion?” Pelley asked.

“Yes,” Biden replied.

The interview is the latest of several occasions in which Biden has said that the United States would come to Taiwan’s defense militarily if China were to attack. Each time, White House officials emphasized that his remarks did not represent any change in U.S. policy.

A Biden administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the issue, pointed to remarks the president made in May, when he told reporters that the practice of strategic ambiguity toward Taiwan remained. At the time, he did not elaborate and did not explicitly say he would send U.S. troops to Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion.

“He also made clear then that our Taiwan policy hasn’t changed,” the official said. “That remains true.”

A representative from the State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday.

The “60 Minutes” segment erroneously stated that U.S. policy since 1979 has recognized Taiwan as part of China. Under the United States’ “one-China policy,” the American government under various administrations has for decades acknowledged Beijing’s view without taking a position on the status of Taiwan’s sovereignty.

Under the Taiwan Relations Act, which was signed by President Jimmy Carter in 1979, the United States agreed to provide Taiwan with arms to defend itself, and “to maintain the capacity of the United States to resist any resort to force or other forms of coercion that would jeopardize the security, or the social or economic system, of the people on Taiwan.” The language neither guarantees nor rules out the possibility of military intervention, though the United States has long practiced “strategic ambiguity” when it comes to what it would do.

In the “60 Minutes” interview, Biden appeared to refer to the Taiwan Relations Act when asked what Chinese President Xi Jinping should know about Biden’s commitment to Taiwan.

“We agree with what we signed onto a long time ago,” Biden told Pelley. “And that there’s one-China policy, and Taiwan makes their own judgments about their independence. We are not moving — we’re not encouraging their being independent. That’s their decision.”

Tensions between the United States and China — as well as between China and Taiwan — have escalated in recent months. Shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine, Biden sent an unofficial delegation of former U.S. defense and national security officials to Taiwan, an effort to show that the United States’ commitment to Taiwan “remains rock solid,” an administration official said at the time.

Last month, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) traveled with a congressional delegation to Taipei, becoming the first House speaker to visit Taiwan since Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) did so in 1997. There, the delegation met with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, and Pelosi repeatedly affirmed the United States’ “commitment to” and “enduring friendship” with Taiwan.

The visit angered Beijing. Under the Chinese Communist Party, Beijing has for decades pursued a global pressure campaign to diplomatically isolate Taiwan’s democratically elected government by poaching its diplomatic partners and fiercely opposing exchanges between Taipei and foreign officials.

China conducted expanded military exercises near Taiwan leading up to and after Pelosi’s visit, calling them a warning to “provocateurs” who challenge Beijing’s claims over Taiwan. Beijing also imposed sanctions on Pelosi and her immediate family, and canceled military dialogues and suspended climate talks with the United States.

Russia's President Putin is threatening nuclear war today (Wednesday, 21-September-2022), and Putin says it is not a bluff.  I am scared.  I don't feel badly for myself at 47 years old, but I feel badly for all of the children and young adults.  If Putin takes out his nuclear weapons toy box and then deploys them, billions of people will die.  The Earth will end up a radiation-poisoned planet.

We are in a State of Emergency!  We need to do something to stop Putin right now.  The poor people of Ukraine must be scared, too.  Millions of people in Ukraine will die.  Putin previously said his first nuclear weapons target would be London, U.K.

Why is this even happening?  After the collapse of the U.S.S.R. in the early-1990s, we should have worked together to do away with nuclear weapons, and all other Weapons of Mass Destruction such as Biological Weapons and Chemical Weapons.  Instead, the U.S. Government became the biggest arms sales nation on Earth by taking over Russia's market share of arms sales in the 1990s.  The U.S. economy boomed in the 1990s because the U.S. Government grew its profitable military industrial complex in a time of peace.  A lot of people on Wall Street, the Pentagon and the Swamp made billions of dollars, while the middle class suffered through the brutal recessions of 2002 and 2008 with a predicted brutal recession next year in 2023.  None of that excuses Putin for threatening the world with nuclear war.

Putin is a madman, and his would-be actions of nuclear war will kill more people than all of the previous madmen dictators combined throughout human history.  Why did the U.S. Government invade Iraq in 2003?  Putin's 2022 invasion of Ukraine is no different.  Xi's Chinese Government's planned invasion of Taiwan would be no different.  Joe Biden, along with John Kerry and Hillary Clinton, voted for George W. Bush's invasion of Iraq 20 years ago.  Joe Biden is a hypocrite for denouncing Putin and Xi on the world stage when he voted for and supported the U.S. Government's invasion of Iraq for its second largest oil reserves in the world next to number one Saudi Arabia, where Joe Biden visited on July 15th, 2022, to pay Crown Prince MBS billions of U.S. Dollars to lower the price of gas by a little over $1 per gallon prior to the 2022 midterm elections.  I am not able to save money during this period of 41-year high U.S. inflation, but the little over $1 per gallon of gas shows me that Democrats' Green New Deal is really more HOT AIR in the Swamp.

In closing, there are no adults in the room of global politics right now!

I assume you are being sarcastic to tell me to relax about the news today.  Joe Biden is not uniting our nation, nor is he uniting our world.  Joe Biden's debacle in Afghanistan a little over one year ago in 2021 resulted in the deaths of millions of people in Afghanistan.  I told our fellow Veterans buddies that when 13 Members of the U.S. Armed Forces were killed in a bombing in Afghanistan last year, I wanted to walk into the Oval Office and tell off the sitting U.S. President Joe Biden, who had five draft deferments during the Vietnam Conflict, including one for Asthma, but I never saw Joe Biden use an inhaler.  I also told our fellow Veterans buddies that I wanted to take action when the group of neo-Nazi hate marchers held their protest parade without showing us their cowardly faces in Boston earlier this year of 2022.  Of course, I could never walk into the Oval Office.  Of course, I would not shoot the fascists who marched in Boston because I believe in the rule of law, but if I could go back 100 years ago, I would definitely assassinate Adolf Hitler and his Nazi henchmen that surrounded him back them to stop the Holocaust from taking place.

Is anyone else scared that Putin threatened to use his nuclear weapons in Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine and that he is not bluffing?  Putin previously said his first target in a nuclear war would be London, U.K.  We are in a State of Emergency!  Is Putin a madman?  Billions of people would die in a nuclear war.  Joe Biden voted for the U.S. Government's authorization to invade oil-rich Iraq 20 years ago during George W. Bush's presidential administration.  Putin ordered Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.  Xi is planning China's would be future invasion of Taiwan.  The U.S.A., China and Russia all invaded or plan to invade sovereign countries, and they cannot fight each other in WW3 without a would-be nuclear weapons war.  We need to understand that in order to not end up with a radiation-poisoned Earth.

Putin warned the West that he is prepared to use nuclear weapons.  Putin says that is not bluffing.  That is scary!  Billions of people around the world would die in a nuclear weapons war.  The remaining people who somehow survive would live in a radiation-poisoned Earth.  Human Beings are unable and unwilling to live in peace.  I cannot believe that this is happening.  We are living in a real-world nightmare that I hope will end soon without a would-be nuclear weapons war.

What will happen after the Fed raises rates one dozen times by the end of 2023, there are many energy crises, Joe Biden spends tens of trillions more federal dollars in 2023 - 2024, Putin takes over Europe - in whole or in part - or the Russian dictator blows up Europe and beyond with his nuclear weapons toy chest, the Green New Deal is uncovered as a scheme to enrich China and the elderly Swamp Democrats such as John Forbes Kerry, Joe Xiden, Maryland Markey, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the like, the U.S. Middle Class is fully decimated with the upcoming insolvency and end of Social Insurance - Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid - government programs, Wall Street and K Street abolish Capitol Hill and the Financial and Corporate Elites become the purse strings of the would-be dictatorial U.S. President, Big Tech becomes the Ruling Elite's propaganda bureau, religion is done away with, and we all worship the Almighty Dollar as the Creator, the people lose the right to vote, speak freely, assemble peaceably, and are jailed for saying the word "Democracy", entire countries are controlled by biological warfare with new coronaviruses deployed to wipe out millions of people at a time similar to the fictional Death Star in the Star Wars movies, and we commoners only get to live to the age of 55 years old to limit global population growth?

Former Governor of New Hampshire John Lynch wrote an op-ed that the New Hampshire Union Leader conservative newspaper published today whereby he argued that the U.S. Government with NATO countries and Ukraine should escalate the conflict with Putin and Russia to stop the Humanitarian Crisis by defeating Putin and Russia to save Ukraine.

John Lynch asks if Putin is like Hitler?  In so far as Putin is the first leader since Hitler to invade a foreign country in Europe, then yes, indeed, Putin is like Hitler.  John Lynch does not write about the Bush 2 led invasion of Iraq, which possesses the second largest oil reserves in the world, which Joe Biden voted for 20 years ago.  Why was it O.K. for the U.S. Government to invade Iraq in March 2003 for its vast oil riches, but 20 years later, Putin's Russia is being compared to Hitler's Nazi Germany for invading Ukraine?  The same goes for Xi's planned Chinese invasion of Taiwan that is predicted to happen two years from now in 2025?

There are world leaders hoping for peaceful negotiations with Putin's Russia to end their war against Ukraine, but obviously John Lynch is not among them.  Why isn't John Lynch writing about diplomacy, peaceful negotiations, and putting a full stop to Putin's ongoing threats of him using his nuclear weapons against us and our allies throughout Europe?  It scares the shit out of me to keep reading about Putin's threats of nuclear war, but I wonder if any of that matters to John Lynch?

John Lynch wrote: "We need to go right after Russia. Go after their military installations, their energy infrastructure, their transportation facilities, etc."  What the Hell does John Lynch thinks is going to happen if the U.S.A. with NATO countries and Ukraine attack Russia?

John Lynch's heart is in the right place, but his op-ed arguing for all-out war against Russia is scary!

LIKE SO MANY of us across America and the world, I have been watching the very tragic events unfolding out of Ukraine. They are heart-wrenching, so sad, and difficult to watch. Admittedly, I have a hard time watching the daily news: vivid pictures of Ukrainians being slaughtered, women and children being raped, schools and apartment buildings being obliterated, millions of people being displaced from their home, and refugees and orphans in the Ukraine, Poland and elsewhere.

The United States and our NATO allies have been admirable in committing billions of dollars worth of weapons and other military aid to Ukraine. And the Ukrainian people have been truly amazing. Against all odds, they have fought heroically and selflessly to protect their homeland. And I so admire them and President Zelenskyy. President Zelenskyy is the modern-day version of Winston Churchill.

Our words of support for Ukraine have been positive and supportive. But, quite frankly, calling the Russian actions “war crimes” or “crimes against humanity” are not particularly helpful. They add little value to the Ukrainian struggle against the Russians.

So is Putin like Hitler? Maybe or maybe not. In any event, he is irrational and unpredictable. Which makes it more difficult to anticipate his next moves. It cannot be done.

Will our greater involvement lead to a nuclear war? Should we be concerned about Russia’s relationship to China? And how about Taiwan? Or even India? All of that should be considered. But that should not dictate to us our strategy.

Asking Ukraine to only be on the defensive, and to focus on cleaning up the carnage which has been inflicted on them, is akin to asking the victims of a bully to fight with two hands tied behind their backs. It can’t be done, and is not responsible.

We can second-guess all that has happened up to this point. And clearly mistakes have been made. But that is not helpful as we move forward.

We need a new strategy. We, the United States, NATO and the Ukraine, need to go on the offensive. History has shown that this is the best defense.

We need to go right after Russia. Go after their military installations, their energy infrastructure, their transportation facilities, etc. And we have to be 100% in! This is a war. And no wars are won without being fully engaged and committed.

I fully understand the potential consequences. And admittedly, I have not participated in any high-level discussions or simulation exercises. But I do know strategy, both from the private and public sector. Now is the time to act!

I am well aware that this approach will be controversial, and may be dismissed or condemned by the experts. But now is the time to act! Enough is enough!

WHITE HOUSE: "Biden calls Xi a 'dictator,' fueling Chinese anger" - "The president's comments came a day after Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled to Beijing in an effort to calm tensions."

President Joe Biden called Chinese President Xi Jinping a “dictator” on Tuesday, sparking an angry reaction from Beijing in a sudden flare-up after talks between the two superpowers aimed at easing their geopolitical animosity.

Speaking at a campaign fundraiser in California, Biden suggested that Xi was embarrassed because he did not know about the alleged Chinese spy balloon flying over the United States earlier this year, despite his status as China’s all-powerful leader.

China quickly hit back at the remarks, branding them "extremely absurd and irresponsible."

The president's description of Xi came one day after a high-level visit by Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Beijing, an effort to calm tensions between the U.S. and China. Blinken told NBC News after his visit that the spy balloon “chapter should be closed” and both sides pledged to try and stabilize the relationship.

Biden, however, revisited the subject before a room of more than 125 attendees that included California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who also spoke at the fundraiser. 

“The reason why Xi Jinping got very upset in terms of when I shot that balloon down with two box cars full of spy equipment is he didn’t know it was there,” Biden said. 

“That’s a great embarrassment for dictators,” he added, “when they didn’t know what happened.”

The riposte from Beijing was swift.

Mao Ning, a spokesman for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Biden's comments were "extremely absurd and irresponsible, seriously contradicting the basic facts." He accused the president of "seriously violating diplomatic protocol and seriously infringing on China’s political dignity, which is an open political provocation."

China, he told a daily briefing, was "strongly dissatisfied."

Biden said the Chinese balloon was blown off course without Xi’s knowledge, adding “when it got shot down, he (Xi) was very embarrassed and he denied it was even there.” He did not walk back the comments later on Tuesday at a second fundraiser. 

Biden was referring to an alleged Chinese spy balloon that floated across the United States in February. The balloon, which China maintains was an unmanned civilian airship that was conducting meteorological research, was shot down by the Air Force off the coast of South Carolina after it had hovered above sensitive U.S. military installations. The incident became an intense point of diplomatic conflict between Beijing and Washington. 

Though Blinken’s visit was considered relatively successful — Biden said at the fundraiser his secretary of state did “a good job” — China and the U.S. have not re-established several military communication channels that were cut after former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, a self-ruling island off China’s coast that Beijing claims as its own territory. There were no breakthroughs in the meeting beyond an agreement the two sides needed to stabilize the relationship. 

The two countries have had tense military brushes in recent weeks in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea that some have found particularly concerning. China said it was defending its national sovereignty in the two most recent instances. The U.S. called Beijing’s acts dangerous and emphasized that American service members were operating in international airspace and waters. 

Blinken’s visit was the first by a secretary of state since 2018. He had postponed a planned trip in February after the Chinese spy balloon debacle. Biden said last month that his plan with Xi to keep an ongoing dialogue had been derailed by “this silly balloon.”

At Tuesday night's first fundraiser, Biden said Xi had become more concerned with the Quad strategic security group, which is made up of the U.S., Australia, Japan and India. The group has spoken openly about acting as a buffer to Chinese interests, but Biden said he assured Xi that China did not need to be concerned. 

Biden also told the crowd they should not be concerned about recent friction between Beijing and Washington.

“Don’t worry about China. I mean, worry about China but don’t worry about China,” he said as the crowd laughed.

Over the past couple of years, Joe Biden has called Russia's Putin "a KILLER" and "a BUTCHER".  Yesterday, Joe Biden called China's Xi "a DICTATOR" only two days after his Secretary of State visited China.  I wonder if Joe Biden realizes that if Russia's Putin and China's Xi allied together against the U.S.A. it would weaken our national security and put us at a military disadvantage in WW3?

Putin the propagandist poker player is worse than the predictable Pittsfield politics always raising its municipal operating budget by between 5 percent to 10 percent per fiscal year since the early-1980's after the misguided and arbitrary Proposition 2.5 state law went into effect in Massachusetts - it is all a financial shell game from Pittsfield to Boston.

Putin's own Russian people do NOT all support Russia's authoritarian dictator.  Just like Pittsfield's taxpayers do not support the city soaking them with excessive municipal spending.  Interestingly, if Russia had a real democracy, then Russian voters would vote out Putin, but Pittsfield's pseudo-democracy sees voter turnout at around 20 percent in local elections, which means that around 80 percent of voters know that the fix is always in when it comes to Pittsfield politics.

Where I now live in Southern New Hampshire, I hear stories from local people I know and have talked to about local Russian families who live in the area that I now live in who are split and fighting with each other about the 2-year-old Russian invasion of Ukraine.  It does not look and sound to me like the Russian people are all favorable of Putin and his militaristic actions in Ukraine.

Lastly, around 21 years ago, Joe Biden - along with billionaire John Forbes Kerry and Hillary Clinton - voted for the second Iraq conflict whereby the U.S. Government invaded Iraq, which holds the 2nd largest oil fields in the world second only to number one Saudi Arabia.  Putin's Russian Government invaded Ukraine.  Xi's Chinese Government plans to invade Taiwan.  Joe Biden is the pot calling the kettle(s) black!
